Established in 1941 · Cared for by the Charter Township of Long Lake
Twin Lakes Park has always been more than a beautiful venue. It began in 1941, when Judge Parm Gilbert donated 73 acres to Grand Traverse County with a vision of a place for 4-H clubs, youth camps, recreation, and community gatherings.
Gilbert Lodge, which carries his name, was built shortly after World War II, and later land donations grew the park to about 175 acres along North and South Twin Lakes. A dormitory added in 1981 opened the park to overnight camps and retreats.
In 2023, ownership passed from Grand Traverse County to the Charter Township of Long Lake. Under the township's care, our goal is to preserve and improve this land for generations to come, and to keep rental costs as low as possible so families, children, and local businesses can keep making lasting memories here.
